Lecture | Artist Sakura Maku
February 8
Sakura Maku is a Japan born artist who grew up in the States and currently lives in New York. In her work, Maku extends the comic strip into dimensional space, activating walls, floors, and ceilings like a giant open book. Her paintings are maps for drawings, comics, and prints that often looks like pieces of drawings and prints taped together, woven with paint. She earned an MFA in Painting & Printmaking from Yale School of Art in New Haven, CT and currently teaches at the School of Visual Arts, NYC.
Lecture followed by the opening reception for The Chicken And The Egg exhibition.
